Ms. Stockum

Ms. Stockum • Music

I’m Ms. Stockum and I’m excited to be teaching K-5 Music and 6-8 Choir. Music has always been my life and I can’t imagine going even one day without it. There is great power in the value of music to connect us together and help us understand ourselves. My goal in music class is for students to directly experience, study, and perform authentically rich music as they develop music responsiveness. I encourage students to share their ideas and contribute personal interests.

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelors of Music Education. While in music school, I studied the viola and played with the CU Symphony Orchestra, and later with the Boulder Symphony Orchestra. I continue to play in string quartets, mentor young musicians, and perform with diverse ensembles throughout Colorado.

I have family in Greeley that I often visit and I love to go to live concerts of any kind! I teach private violin, voice, and piano lessons to students in the area, so if you are interested please contact me. I have recently taken up the ukulele and love to dance like nobody’s watching! ;)

Looking forward to a musically exciting school year with you at West Grand! ♫

Interventionist

As a Title I Para K-5 Reading Interventionist, I am so grateful to be working at a place where I know how good of a fit Kremmling Colorado is in my life. It's been a joy to work with such amazing staff and families. I really thrive on teaching kids to read. My goal is to hopefully instill a desire to challenge them to always to keep learning new things.

I have been in Elementary Education since 1997 working as a Guided Reading Aide, and then as a SPED Para out on the plains of Colorado.

I am loving my life living here in the mountains of Kremmling. What a huge blessing!
Mr. Strathman

Mr. Strathman • Technology

I am the K-8 Technology teacher at West Grand.  I started out teaching at West Grand as a long term substitute.  I enjoy the daily developments in the technology world and how it changes our lives.  We are all learning the benefits of a Google based system.

I grew up in Bristol, CT.  I attended Western New England University and graduated with a B.S. in Business Management after changing from an education degree.  While in college I competed in wrestling for the college.

After college I moved to Colorado where I did all sorts of work that would allow me to enjoy the Rocky mountains. I have been a ski shop manager as well as Operations Manager for a large landscape company in many counties. I ended up owning my own landscape company, which I currently still own.

I moved to Grand County where my joy of teaching was reignited. I began as a volunteer assistant for the wrestling program. I did that for six years till I became the head coach of the high school and middle school programs. I am also the assistant coach for the middle school football team.

Outside of work I enjoy anything outdoors and sports related.  Sports have been a big part of my life. I enjoy teaching athletes to push forward when things are not going their way, and anything can be accomplished through hard work. I believe sports provide education for life experiences students will face in their future.
